Hey, I’m Orizema!

(pron. OH-ree-SEH-mah)

👋🏽 I'm a San José-based Designer

I was born, raised, and have continued to live in California following the completion of my BFA degree in Graphic Design. I am a first generation former SJSU Spartan and I aspire to make valuable experiences that are engaging, accessible, and pixel-perfect.

As a Visual Designer at IBM's Silicon Valley Lab, I contribute design system application and data visualization improvements to IBM Software. I also volunteer with internal communities that align with my interests and identity (Make Lab, bird conservation, LGBTQ+, Latine, Women’s). For more on my career, check out my resumé!

… And an amateur Artist & Writer ✨

In my free time, I approach personal ideas and professional prompts in the same way that I approach design: with great consideration for my intention and others’ perception.

My art pieces are most often illustrations, photographs, collages, and block prints about my experiences as a bisexual Mexican-American with indigenous Oaxacan roots. My recaps and reflections cover similar subject matter and can be found on my blog or links page.

When I’m not pushing pencils or pixels you can find me listening to Nine Inch Nails, exploring the outdoors, or bouldering indoors at the local climbing gyms!
