Milpitas Camera Club and Students of MHS

During my fourth and final year of high school, I chose to take an elective photography class in addition to the curriculum tailored to students in the Digital Business Academy (math, English, government / history, digital art). That class became my first introduction to film and DSLR cameras, with assignments that ranged from candid portrait and nature shots, to mock professional gigs and surreal Photoshop jobs.

A year prior, I had taken an Ecology class for which the biggest assignment was to photograph and thoroughly identify 30 Bay Area birds. Not only did that assignment spark a lifelong interest in birdwatching, it also led to the first opportunity for publicly showcasing my work! Through my photography teacher’s connections to the Milpitas Camera Club, I submitted several photographs to their 11th Annual Show, pictured below:
