SJSU @ Seoultech & Hanbat University
Every year, the BFA Graphic Design program coordinates a series of overseas design workshops for students and alumni; the trip takes place in the summer as soon as spring semester lets out, and alternates between cities across Asia and across Europe every year.
As a then-recent graduate, I participated in the 2018 Asia Design Workshop Trip. I was fortunate enough to explore the food, culture, and design history of eight locations over three and a half weeks of travel: Beijing, China • Hong Kong • Singapore • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia • Seoul, South Korea • Tokyo, Japan • Kyoto, Japan • Osaka, Japan
Additionally, the coordinating professors provided participating students the opportunity to showcase up to three of their best BFA Graphic Design pieces at Seoultech and Hanbat University. Myself and other BFA Graphic Design students and alumni assisted in the setup and opening of the exhibition at Seoultech before continuing on our travels. I am eternally grateful to those in Seoul and Daejeon for packing, shipping, and setting up the exhibition at Hanbat University before finally returning our pieces to SJSU in the fall.
